Violence Has No Color
Nicole Brown Simpson Foundation Adopts Song
By Candy Webb News Editor (abridged)
When the random acts of violence through the world began to get to songwriters Eddie Reasoner and co-writer Carol Connors, ( ed note :10 Major Awards including Oscars, Emmys and Golden Globes) they did what songwriters do, they put their feelings into words. The result of that collaboration “Violence Has No Color” will receive world recognition on January 27th in Los Angeles when it will be featured at the Rabin Award Dinner. This event which will be held in the international ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, is sponsored by the Friends of Sheba Medical Center to honor Ms. Lea Rabin, wife of the slain Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The event will also mark the establishment of the Yitzhak Rabin International Wall of Peace at the Sheba Medical Center. (Tel Aviv, Israel)
The song has been officially adopted as the anthem of the Nicole Brown Simpson Charitable Foundation by founder Denise Brown (sister of the late Nicole Brown Simpson). Brown says the lyrics drive home her point that “Violence is not a racial issue but a human issue.” Reasoner said, “Thats exactly why the song was written.” “We live in a global society and we must learn to live together.” “This song is about what a violent world we currently live in.”
When Rabin was assasinated Reasoner and Connors were in Florida filming a children’s show. “We talked about the fact that Violence see’s no racial, ethnic or economic boundaries” said Reasoner. “It truly knows no color”. When the song was complete Connors and Reasoner recorded a demo tape and Reasoner sent a demo to Denise Brown, who he had met a year earlier in Palm Springs during a Jergen’s golf classic. She loved the song and adopted it publicly after Reasoner (and Connors) performed it live in Palm Springs.
“When I met Denise I felt her heart was in the right place,” said Reasoner. “Her Mission is to bring awareness about domestic violence out into the open.” Reasoner is happy it will help Brown’s cause and hopes it becomes an international anthem. “Something has to unite mankind,” said Reasoner. “Maybe this song can be the common thread.”
